Kenyan parks beat them all!
It is now official though we have always known: Kenya’s game
parks are among the top 10 destinations in the world for 2006,
according to a leading British Travel Firm.
According to the poll, by Frommers, Kenya’s parks has been named
among the ten most popular places where people should most want
to go this year.
It added that politics have settled down “… making Kenya a more
attractive proposition for those seeking an adventurous
vacation. In addition, the game parks have been described as a
“perfect place” to see wildlife in their natural habitat and to
experience the diversity of the wildlife species.”
There you are; we have always told you we have among the best to
offer when it comes to wildlife and National parks. And, to
Kenyans and residents, remember the migration this year in
Maasai Mara. We are making bookings for Kenyatta Day long
weekend 19 – 22 October.
Contact us (info@menengaiholidays.com)
for more details on how we can arrange a visit to the many
of our national parks; a Kenyan safari a trip you will treasure
for a lifetime.

More to the Kenyan Coast... beyond the beach!
Love the great outdoors and the thrill of visiting Africa? Visit
the Haller Park and the forest trails, a few minutes off the
hotels along North Coast. A day’s visit will provide an
opportunity to experience nature alongside exciting activities
including guided nature walks in the cool forest, up close
feeding of giraffes, watching hippos being fed at a very close
distance, playful monkeys frolicking in the trees, close
encounters with snakes, crocodiles and various animals.
Ever heard or read about the improbable bond between a hippo and
a tortoise? Owen, the baby hippo was rescued along the Kenyan
resort town of Malindi on 26th December 2004 in the
aftermath of the Indian Ocean Tsunami. He was taken to Haller
Park and immediately struck a bizarre chord with Mzee, one of
the park’s resident giant aldabran Tortoises.
This extraordinary relationship has earned the pair celebrity
status in Kenya and abroad. Owen and Mzee have appeared on
television all over the world and their touching story has been
featured (at last count) on more than 80,000websites!
This strange relationship continues draw many Kenyan travellers
to Mombasa and perhaps you should book to see the pair before
they are separated.
Let us arrange a great coast travel for you this year

For the culturally inclined, we conduct enlightening visits to
Ngomongo cultural village a reclaimed wasteland with an amazing
example of a Kenyan tourism venture investing in the
environmental regeneration of a forgotten wasteland. Ten
kilometres North of Mombasa Island, a picturesque nature trail
provides a vivid representation of the traditional ways of life
of ten colourful and diverse Kenyan rural communities.
Where to stay
Kenya coast has some of the best beach hotels on the continent!
There are also medium class cottages and self- catering bandas
to cater for a variety of tastes and budgets. Campers are also
catered for especially in Shimba Hills and Mwaluganje.
Other Activities for you while at the coast include
snorkelling and other water sports viewing the beautiful
coloured coral reefs as well as the marine life. These are all
possible in the marine parks ranging from Malindi and Watamu

v
Did you know that only 1 out of 1000 turtle hatchlings
survives to maturity and are threatened with extinction?
v
Did you know that temperatures determine the sex of turtle
hatchlings i.e. above 30˚c
are females while vice versa are males?
v
Turtles come back to lay eggs on their maternal beach
grounds and are ancient marine species traced as old as the
dinosaur era.
Next time you see a turtle, count yourself lucky and
campaign for their survival. |
